Movie Report of Pride and Prejudice
Tonight we watched the movie Pride and Prejudice to celebrate the coming English festival! Actually, I’ve appreciated both the novel and movie before, but I have nothing against watching it again not only because of the gorgeous actors and actresses in the movie but also the story itself.
It tells marriages of the Bennets: Jane, Lydia, Elizabeth and the marriage of Liz’s friend Charlotte. They married different gentlemen for various reasons. Jane married friendly and generous Mr. Bingley. They fell in love with each other deeply but were too shy to express their feelings. They experienced a short time break-up but were together and given blessing from everyone eventually. While Jane found her true love, Lydia and Charlotte married only for beauty and a secure life. The change of the relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcey was without doubt the main plot of the movie. Elizabeth’s feeling towards Darcey changed from hatred to love as she gradually got to know him. Like most love stories, they became the happiest couple in the world.
From the movie, not only are we spellbound by the true love and magnificent scenery in the movie, but we gain a deeper knowledge of love and marriage. I can’t forget how eagerly Mrs. Bennet wanted to marry Elizabeth to Mr. Darcey for the sake of his possessions. Although in modern society marrying for money is not that commonly seen, we still take money into consideration in a marriage. Movies are always a showcase of social phenomena. It is said that marriages are the “grave” of love, but in the movie, it never happens. If Mr. Darcey stood for Pride and Elizabeth for Prejudice we can see that love can definitely win over prejudice and pride. Maybe it’s the kernel of this movie.
